What is Green Action Week?
Green Action Week is a global campaign that promotes sustainable consumption through the power of sharing. In the first week of October every year, groups around the world come together to share knowledge, resources, skills and spaces – taking action to reduce waste, live more sustainably and build stronger, more resilient communities.
The campaign theme is Sharing Community, a celebration of creative, practical ways we can support each other and the planet.
Whether you’re part of a group, an organisation, a school or just one person who cares, your action counts.

Why Join?
Green Action Week is more than a campaign – it’s a global sharing community. By taking part, you’ll connect with people around the world, exchange ideas and practical solutions, share your work with a global audience and inspire others to build more sustainable communities.
How to Take Part
1) Connect your work to Green Action Week
You don’t have to start from scratch. Connect Green Action Week to your existing work by hosting a sharing activity during the first week of October. Whether it’s a workshop, swap, community meal, repair café or knowledge exchange, your activity becomes part of a global movement for sustainable consumption. Big or small, every action makes a difference.
Need some inspiration? Organise a swap (seeds, clothes, books, toys or food), host a workshop (repair, upcycling, organic gardening or agroecology), bring people together through a community activity (a meal, garden, clean-up or shared kitchen) or create opportunities for sharing knowledge through a skills exchange, community radio, podcast or intergenerational learning. Explore current campaigns and discover inspiring stories from communities around the world.
2) Share your action
Every local action adds to a global movement for sustainable consumption. Share your stories and photos with us and help inspire communities around the world.
