Our West African colleagues focused on filling critical gaps in nutrition, food safety and environmental awareness in Green Action Week 2024. In Benin, campaigns focused on household food security, in Ivory Coast, urban biodiversity was highlighted as a key element of climate regulation, in Niger, cassava consumption was encouraged and in Senegal, the focus was on food safety and hygiene.
The Consumers’ Association of Penang (CAP) hosted a hands-on workshop on natural cooling methods and launched a seed-sharing initiative to promote energy savings and sustainability.
Consumer Lebanon ran an innovative water conservation campaign via WhatsApp and social media, engaging women and youth in saving water despite the challenges of a war zone.
The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe’s “Bring a Bag Campaign” encouraged reusable bags to reduce plastic waste and pollution, offering workshops to create eco-friendly bags from old t-shirts.
Unsustainable farming practices like monocropping and chemical inputs are harming the environment and depleting soil fertility, making it harder to grow nutritious crops.
Green Action Week is a global campaign focused on building Sharing Community as a way of showcasing sustainable consumption. More than 40 organizations around the world host exciting events and workshops every year to highlight innovative responses to pressing challenges.
